Dr. Kourosh Eghbali is an Ophthalmologist (Eye Physician and Surgeon) with additional fellowship training in Cornea and Refractive Surgery.Dr. Eghbali graduated with honors from UCLA where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He subsequently received his Medical Degree (M.D.) with honors from the University of California Davis School of Medicine. After completing a year of general surgery training at UCLA he entered a prestigious ophthalmology residency program at University of California Irvine. He was selected to be Chief Resident based on his superb surgical and clinical skills. He was a recipient of the “Outstanding Performance in Ophthalmology Residency” award from the Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Eghbali then completed extra fellowship training in Cornea and Refractive Surgery. His training was from world renowned surgeons Dr. Peter McDonnell (currently Chairman of Ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins University-Wilmer Eye Institute) and Dr. Roger Steinert (formerly Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard University and now President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery). Dr. Eghbali mastered no patch, no stitch micro-incision cataract surgery. His fellowship training concentrated on refractive surgery, corneal transplants, and complex cataract/intraocular lens exchange.Dr. Eghbali has been teaching students, residents and doctors since his undergraduate years. He has been involved in more than 30 different research projects with more than 25 scientific peer-reviewed journal publications, abstracts and presentations. He is co-author of a chapter on LASIK that is published in the most prestigious cornea reference book titled “Cornea”.He has been an active member in many professional Dr. Eghbali speaks three languages.
